FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT AREAS DO YOU SERVICE?
We recognise the need for local, on the ground support and currently offer face to face support in Clermont, Dysart, Moranbah, and surrounds. Please contact us if you reside outside these areas and would like to engage our services.
DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM MY GP?
You are not required to have a referral from your GP. You are able to self refer, have a family member or carer or NDIS Support Coordinator refer (with your consent).
It is helpful to have as much background information as possible prior to our first session, so any information from a GP would be welcomed.
WHAT REBATES ARE AVAILABLE?
While you are not able to claim medicare rebates through our services, members of select private health funds may be able to claim rebates for counselling sessions depending on their level of cover. You will need to contact your health provider to confirm your cover and the claim process.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT?
We understand that from time to time emergencies occur that prevent you being able to attend your scheduled appointment. Late or cancelled appointments impact your treatment progress. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we require a minimum of 48 hours notice. If you cancel or reschedule your appointment within this period, or fail to attend, the cancellation fees below will apply unless there are extenuating circumstances.
48+ hours notice: No Fee
0-48 hours notice: Full Fee
WHEN IS PAYMENT REQUIRED?
Payment is required at the completion of your session. Services will be suspended if you are more than 30 days overdue with payment.
WHAT APPROACHES DO YOU USE DURING COUNSELLING?
Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based intervention for many mental health concerns. It is considered the gold-standard of treatment for depression and anxiety disorders. CBT proposes that unhelpful thinking is a cause of symptoms and through replacing unhelpful thoughts we can change our behaviour and improve our wellbeing.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
The number of sessions needed will vary and depend on the presenting difficulties. We will discuss and mutually agree on the number of sessions required early in treatment. Counselling sessions are 50 minutes in duration.
DO OUR SESSIONS REMAIN CONFIDENTIAL?
All information gathered by a counsellor during provision of counselling services remains confidential except in any of the following circumstances:
– Your notes, or a report, are subpoenaed by a court of law, or
– Failure to disclose information would place you or another person at imminent risk of serious harm, or
– You consent to information relevant to your current issue being discussed or otherwise shared with another person or professional agency

CAN I USE NDIS FUNDING TO ACCESS YOUR SERVICES
We are able to work with plan and self managed participants. You will need to speak with your plan manager (if you have one) to initiate this process. Please contact us to discuss how we can work together to meet your needs. We can then provide a referral form and service agreement.
